You should vote out of office republican senators and representatives in the November 3, 2026 election.
WHY?
Donald Trump, although not up for re-election, has instructed voters to vote like he is on the ballot. And, in truth, he IS on the ballot, or at least the devastating programs that he has instructed republican representatives and senators to vote for (and which they duly passed). If we do not vote out of office all "republican" enablers, President Trump will have two more years to continue his assault on Democracy, the Constitution, and on our rights, freedoms, and programs that were designed to make our lives better.
What are those programs that republicans have passed (or failed to act on) that harmed all Americans (except rich oligarchs including members of the Trump family)?
-They passed the great, big beautiful bill that:
1. Cut healthcare benefits by cutting over a trillion dollars from Medicaid and Affordable Care Act subsidies, causing millions of you to lose your health insurance coverage or forced to pay higher out-of-pocket medical costs;
2. Took away over $200 billion from the food stamp program (SNAP), that provided food funding for low income families
3. Eliminated food support for millions of working-class families with low incomes by adding strict requirements for older adults and parents to get food cost support;
4. Gave high tax cuts for corporations and wealthy people (America's oligarchs), while providing much lower tax cuts for 80% of Americans with lower income;
5. Added 3-4 trillion dollars more in the national debt
- They failed to stop president Trump's war with Iran by not voting for the War Powers Act that allows Congress to stop wars that presidents start without authorization, the war that allowed Iran to choke off passage of crude oil out of the Strait of Hormuz, causing gas prices to skyrocket in America. The war that has cost 22-23 American soldier deaths, wounding of 800+ service men/women, killing of 1,700+ innocent Iranian civilians (including 254 children), and severely depleting stocks of anti-miss le defense weapons, making America vulnerable to attacks by other countries;
- They failed to stop Trump's tariff war on the rest of the world, causing prices on food, gas, electricity, and other daily necessities to skyrocket, boosting inflation to over 4% and nearly doubling the price of gas and diesel fuel. The war that has caused American farmers to lose millions of dollars and forcing some into bankruptcy;
-They confirmed three Trump Supreme Court nominees (Gorsuch, Barrett, and Kavanaugh) who, along with existing Justices Thomas and Alito, ruled that Trump is immune from any criminal acts he commits while in office, and struck down women's health provisions in Roe vs. Wade (even though Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Gorsuch promised not to overturn Roe vs. Wade while testifying before congress in confirmation hearings).
To reverse all the programs passed by republicans that harm Americans, you must vote out all republican representatives and senators up for election in the November 3, 2026 election. If majorities of democrats are elected to the House and Senate, they can reverse the programs and restore your benefits and rights to make living in America affordable again (click on vote to see who to vote out and who to vote in).
Additionally, once democrats control house and senate actions by gaining the majority, they can pursue impeachment and removal of: 1). defense secretary Hegseth - for weakening the armed forces by forcing out the generals and admirals who disagreed with his foolhardy military moves and for denying promotion to general and admiral ranks of all women and male officers of color; 2). Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy - for endangering the health of all Americans by attempting to weaken vaccination programs to prevent diseases (like the rampant outbreak of measles related to his casting doubts on the efficacy of vaccination programs); and, 3). House Speaker Johnson for trying to subvert election results if they would give control of the House and Senate to democrats (Johnson stated that ..."We cannot and we will not allow them to take the majority in Congress"after the 2026 mid-term elections") which is a clearly impeachable attempt to overturn the results of the 2026 mid-term elections). Impeaching and removing these three individuals can happen if voters in the 2026 election vote for enough Democrats and Republicans that Democrats obtain a 2/3 majority in the Senate and House of Representatives.
When Checks & Balances Saved Democracy
The designed check on potential dictators by the legislative branch has failed because Republicans kowtow to Trump's unconstitutional use of power. Examples include institution of tariffs devastating to the U.S. economy, starting the Iran war and committing crimes against humanity, and use of poorly-trained ICE storm troopers to kill, terrorize, and illegally round-up and deport non-white citizens. The checks designed to be used by Congress to stifle efforts by President Trump to assume dictatorial powers failed because he installed incompetent but loyal cabinet heads who rolled back environmental protections and civil rights, and have made a mockery of the Department of Justice which has willingly and without proof persecuted persons who President Trump sees as personal enemies.
Two examples of how the checks and balances of the legislative and judicial branches of government worked to thwart unconstitutional use of power by a president remind us of how the checks by judicial and legislative branches can serve to prevent establishment of a dictatorship such as the one President Trump is attempting to install.
Example 1. The Watergate Cover-up

In 1972 White House burglars stole campaign documents and spied on the Democrats ahead of the 1972 presidential election

Journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein exposed White House involvement.

1973 testimony from administration insiders revealed a systematic criminal cover-up, perjury, and obstruction of justice directed from the Oval Office.

Special prosecutors and Congress (including republicans and democrats) demanded access to the audio tapes, but Nixon refused, citing executive privilege.

Nixon ordered special prosecutor Archibald Cox fired, causing top Justice Department officials to resign in protest.

The Supreme Court ordered Nixon to release the tapes proving that Nixon ordered the CIA to block the FBI investigation into the break-in.

Facing impeachment and removal by congressional democrats and republicans, Nixon resigned from office

48 people were convicted or pleaded guilty, including top cabinet and White House aides.
This information, from WIKI, chronicled how legislative and judicial checks prevailed over a presidential attempt to obstruct justice, an impeachable offense.
Example 2. The 2020 general election
Attempts by President Trump to overturn the 2020 election and subsequent installation of Joe Biden as president in 2021 failed because:
a. Choosing integrity over subservience, then Vice-president Mike Pence confirmed the results of the electoral College, refusing to overturn the election of Joe Biden as president as demanded by President Trump. Members of Trump's own party, including senator McConnell who condemned Trump's attempt to overturn the election, and seven other Republicans who voted to convict Trump for incitement to insurrection, provided republican and democratic rejection of Trump's attempt to overturn the election; and, 2.
b. The Supreme Court and lower courts turned back Trump's challenges to the veracity of the 2020 election results, certifying that all election results were valid, and forming a judicial check on Trump's attempt to overturn the election result.
If enough enabling republican representatives and senators can be voted out of office and replaced by democratic or independent politicians, the check on presidential overreach can be re-established to safeguard Democracy and the Constitution.
